Thank You Cards

I finished making my Thank You cards for those who attended my Annual Open House this month. So here is a peak at them.........
I love this color combination. It is Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip. The card is a 3x6 folded in half.

Make sure to check out the new In Color Combination Chart to the right of this post towards the middle of the column. This is a wonderful tool to use when you are wondering what colors work well together. Refer to it often and leave a comment if you found it useful.

Thanks for checking in and have a fabulous day!

Turn your Scallop Punch into a Flower Punch

This is what you will need to make the flower punch: Scallop punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, a pair of the paper snips and of course paper. I used old olive and DSP Bella Rose.

Punch your paper to get the scallop circle

Take your paper snips and begin cutting almost half way into the the scallop circle paper. Take your 1 1/4" circle punch and punch out the center for the flower and adhere it.

Via la you are done! That scallop punch is an awesome tool to have!

Open End Envelope

So did you ever think you could make a card out of these envelopes?
They are found on pg 167 in the Catalog.

This will be the make-n-take at my workshop this week.

This is what it looks like when it is opened up. The end of the envelope is tucked in. I placed a piece of card stock inside with a tab on the end for ease in pulling out the message. The finished size is about 3 1/2 x 3 1/2.

I am running out of time today so check back tomorrow and I will show you how I made the Old Olive and Chocolate Chip flower.

Tutorial on Flip Book Album

Flip Book Album

I have created this to work with our Simply Scrappin’ kits. You will use a ½ kit to complete this project.

General Construction
A (2) 6 x 12 sheets of the same color (one sheet of paper cut in half)
B (2) 6 x 12 sheets of the same color (one sheet of paper cut in half)
C (4) 5 ¾ x 5 ¾ sheets of the same color (one sheet of paper cut as directed)

Note: lightly assemble your album using mono adhesive. After you have assembled it and you are comfortable with how it looks go back and gently pull up a corner at a time and place sticky strip adhesive.

Step 1: Score one 6x12 piece of A cardstock at 2 ¾”, 3”, 9” and 9 ¼”, fold on score lines.

Step 2: Now attach the C cardstock to the front and back of both the right and left panels of A. This is your “cover ensemble.”

Step 3: Score the three remaining pieces of 6x12 cardstock (2) B and (1) A at 3” and 9”

Step 4: Fold the three pieces of cardstock on the score lines. Attach them together end to end in this pattern: (1) B + (1) A + (1) B
Note: line up to the folds not the tips when using adhesive

Step 5: Fold the two center flaps towards the center. Fold the left panel towards the center. Fold the right page towards the center. This creates the “core” of your album.

Step 6: Now attach the “core” to the inside center panel of your “cover ensemble.”
Yes, you have done it! Revised Directions by Susan Wright 360.786.8341

Question about a card

Thank you Donette for asking a question about a card posted on August 19th. Her question was:
Thanks - the cards are beautiful! On the scoring card, how did she get the fresh cut background in diff. colors?

In reviewing Doris's instructions she used elegant eggplant craft ink and embossed the image with clear embossing powder. The flowers and leaves she used re-inkers and a paint brush and colored them in. I am thinking you could also use your SU markers and color them in. Doris if you read this post and want to add anything to it please fill free to do so.

Thanks again Donette for asking your question ;)

Flip Book Class

What a fun gathering! Thank you ladies for attending this class! Tonight I showed how to make a flip book album using our Simply Scrappin' kit.

The Simply Scrappin' Kits work beautifully with this project because Stampin' Up! has done all the homework for you. They made sure that everything coordinates from background paper, card stock to adhesive die cuts. You simply sit down, assemble and let your creativity shine in half the time.

Thanks for stopping by,
Sue

Card Swap

This will be the last post for this card swap. Enjoy these last few pictures. ..

Ann Kloentrup made this card. She used the new stamp set Dreams du Jour. The colors used are Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red. Great coordination, Beautiful Card!

Jen Stewart made this card. The stamp set is a Hostess level three. The stamped saying is Heard from the heart that is 15% off right now. (See the promotion to the right of this post.)
I like the use of the chunky glitter the nose.
Deb Gerlach made this fun card using our square punch and five petal punch. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is new and is called Bella Rose. You will see me using a ton of this DSP I just enjoy how easy it is to work with. You can make Wow cards very easy with this paper. Everything coordinates beautiful will all of Stampin' Up!accessories. Again, the word stamp set is 15% off. (they say you have to read about a special seven times before you see it and nine times before you check out the promotion, you tell me if they are right (smiles))
Okay this is it. Thanks so much for letting me share. My next post will be on the Folding album class I held this week.
Until then: Dare to be fabulous,
Sue

Card Swap

More creations to inspire you. Susan Mezias made this card using Happiness Always (hostess level 3) stamp set.
What a great combination of the new In Colors. They are Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, and Kiwi Kiss........ I would not have thought of adding Kiwi Kiss but it looks beautiful. Great pop of color. This is one of the reasons why I love to join card swaps. I get to think outside of my box ;)
This card is a very special card because Jill Coleman made it and she is in my down line. I love how she used the 1/2 inch circle punch and placed a brad through it to anchor the saying. The stamp set she used is Heard from the heart which is 15% off right now. Check out the promotion to the right...... never before seen stamps.

Laura H. H. Zaraza designed this card. I always enjoy movement in a card and here she has made a card within a card. Love it! The stamp set she used is Dreams du Jour. The colors Pacific Point (new In Color) and Confetti White. Keep up the good work Laura!
Thanks for reading and have a fabulous day

Card Swap

Kim Innis created this card using Happiness Always (hostess level 3) stamp set. You will also notice this card includes all the new In Color paper.
This card is created by Doris Snyder. She used a paper scoring technique. Do you see it? It is the lines on the Kiwi Kiss paper under the stamped image. Doris was so kind as to include her directions with this card. Thank you Doris!

Here we go: paper scoring-- you will need a Paper Cutter (pg 192 IBC) and scoring blades (also pg 192 item #104154) set your card on our grid paper to use as a guide. Starting on the diagonal make pencil marks every half inch. Place your paper under the Paper Cutter arm, turn your paper at an angle and begin lightly scoring (if you push to hard you may tear the paper). Now turn your paper in the other direction make your half inch marks and score again. Thank you so much Doris!

Julie Wick made this card using Embrace Life and Heard from the Heart stamp sets. Heard from the heart is also 15% off right now. Check out the promotion to the top right: never before seen stamps and it will tell you all about the sale.

Keep checking back because for the next few days I will be showing you cards that I received in a SUDSOL card swap. They are beautiful and I hope you are inspired by them as much as I am. If you would like to email me one of your creations using Stampin' Up! products I would gladly post it to my blog.

Dare to be fabulous,

Sue

Simply Sent Card Elements

I make these cards last night using the Simply Sent Card Elements. This is a new item in the Fall/Winter Catalog found on page 176, item number 112028 $15.95. Similar to the Simply Sent card kits (page 177).... the elements include all your paper and accessory needs. The elements are designed to make 9 quick, dramatic cards. I made all nine last night in under 45 minutes and that is with family interruptions! Happy camper? you bet ;)

The instructions are very clear. No guess work just great results. I am all about that!

Have a fabulous day!
